Stainless Steel Ice Cream Cups
A set of six stainless steel ice cream cups sourced in France, each formed as a shallow coupe mounted on a pedestal foot. These stainless steel ice cream cups are consistent with mid-20th century French hotel and restaurant serviceware, a category that was produced in large quantities for the catering trade from the 1950s through the 1970s. The uniform form across all six pieces indicates they belong to a single matched service.
Each cup is made from polished stainless steel (inox), with a high-reflective mirror finish on the exterior and a slightly more worn interior surface consistent with regular use. The coupe bowl is wide and shallow with a gently curved rim, sitting atop a short, fluted pedestal base that flares at the foot. One of the interior bowls shows a faint engraved oval cartouche mark, visible in the close-up photos, which may indicate a hotel, restaurant or institutional provenance. The underside of the base, shown in the fourth photo, reveals a spun construction with concentric lathe marks and a central rivet securing the bowl to the stem. There are no chips or cracks as this is a metal item; minor surface scratches and light patina are present, consistent with vintage use.
Each cup measures approximately 9cm in diameter and 6cm in height (3.5" x 2.4"). The set of six pieces is sold together as photographed.
These stainless steel ice cream cups work well as individual dessert coupes, small condiment dishes, or as part of a mid-century table setting. Their catering-grade construction makes them durable for continued daily use as well as display.
