French Glass Measuring Cup
A French glass measuring cup from the mid-20th century, pressed with multiple graduated scales for dry and liquid ingredients. This French glass measuring cup was made by Gradue, as indicated by the embossed mark on the base, and carries the additional stamp "Nougin Depose" around the foot ring, confirming it as a registered design. Items of this type were standard kitchen equipment in French households from the 1930s through the 1960s.
The cup is mould-pressed in clear glass with a faint pale green tint, a characteristic of French pressed glass from this era. The exterior is divided into vertical panels by raised ribs, each panel carrying a different ingredient scale embossed directly into the glass. Visible ingredient labels include Sucre (sugar), Tapioca, Fecule (starch), Riz (rice), Semule (semolina), Cacao (cocoa), and Liquide, with graduations running from approximately 25 gr up to 300 gr per column, and liquid measures including 1/10 litre, 1/8 litre, and 1/4 litre. The cup sits on a broad, flat, octagonal foot. The rim has a slightly flared lip. Overall condition is good with minor surface wear consistent with age and use; no chips or cracks are visible in the photos.
The cup measures approximately 15 cm tall / 5.9 inches, as stated in the seller description. Diameter at the rim is estimated at approximately 9 cm / 3.5 inches based on the photos.
A functional and visually interesting piece of French kitchen history, this French glass measuring cup is collected both for use and display. It is sought after by collectors of vintage kitchenalia, French farmhouse decor, and pressed glass.
