Marseille Glass Bottles
This authentic set of two vintage Marseille glass bottles originates from France's Mediterranean port city, dating to circa 1950. These traditional French water bottles once served in bars and brasseries, bearing the distinctive embossed "MARSEILLE" marking that confirms their genuine provenance and connection to French cafe culture.
Crafted from green glass with the characteristic patina of age, these bottles showcase robust mid-century French construction. The swing-top closure mechanism features wire bail hardware and ceramic stoppers, reflecting the practical design sensibility of post-war French glassware. Each Marseille glass bottle displays subtle variations in the glass and gentle wear patterns accumulated through decades of use in authentic French establishments.
Standing approximately 30cm (11.75 inches) tall, these bottles exhibit their vintage character through minor surface wear consistent with their age and authentic usage history. The closure mechanisms remain functional, and the embossed lettering is clearly legible on both bottles.
These functional vintage vessels work well as decorative accents in French country or bistro-style interiors, or serve collectors seeking authentic examples of mid-century French commercial glassware.
