A pair of oval French stoneware gratin dishes, each covered in a warm amber-ochre glaze typical of traditional French provincial pottery. The stamp visible on the base reads what appears to be a circular maker's mark with the letters and text around a central motif — partially legible, suggesting a French pottery manufacturer. These French stoneware gratin dishes represent a well-established tradition of functional earthenware produced for everyday kitchen and table use across rural France.

Each dish is oval in form with gently curved sides and a thick, rolled rim. The glaze is a rich amber-golden tone applied to the interior and exterior walls, with the unglazed base revealing the warm terracotta-coloured clay body beneath.
