French School Wall Map China

A double-sided French school wall map dating from the mid-20th century, with one side depicting China (Chine) as the République Chinoise, and the reverse showing the British Isles (Iles Britanniques). Produced by Cooperation Pedagogique, Nalliers (Vienne), this is an authentic French school wall map China edition from a well-known French educational publisher that supplied classroom maps across France during the postwar decades. The maps carry the publisher imprint clearly printed in the header area.

The China side is printed at a scale of 1:3,750,000 and features a full physical and economic geography layout, including regional labels such as Chine du Nord, Chine Centrale, and Chine du Sud, major cities marked with population symbols (Pekin, Changhai, Nankin, Han-Keou), river systems including the Houang-Ho and Tse-Kiang, monsoon patterns, agricultural products (riz, ble, soie, the), and mineral resources (houille). An inset overview map of the full Republic of China at 1:20,000,000 appears in the upper left corner. The British Isles reverse is printed at 1:1,250,000 and similarly annotates physical relief, industrial zones, agricultural products, and city populations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Both sides use a warm ochre and rose-brown color palette for elevation shading. A visible crack or crease runs through the upper portion of the China side as seen in the close-up photo; overall the map presents honest wear consistent with classroom use.

The map measures approximately 90cm x 75cm / 35.4" x 29.5" as stated by the seller. This large format made it suitable for wall display in a school classroom setting.
