French School Map Poster

Produced by Editions Rossignol of Montmorillon, Vienne, France, this set of two French school map posters dates from the mid-twentieth century Cold War era. Published under the series numbering N13 and N14, these are genuine classroom wall maps used in French state education. Each French school map poster covers a different region of the world: one depicts political Asia (Asie Politique), the other political Americas (Amerique Politique). Both carry the Rossignol publisher imprint, a well-documented French educational publisher whose maps are actively collected across Europe and North America.

Printed in lithographic color on stiff paper stock, each map uses a clear color-coded system to distinguish countries and territories. The Americas map includes an inset showing language distribution across the continent, with a legend differentiating English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and indigenous language zones. City population is indicated by graded red dot symbols. The Asia map shows the USSR as a unified block, and separately identifies the Republic of China, the Mongolian People Republic, North and South Vietnam, and other Cold War-era political divisions now obsolete, giving these maps strong historical document value. Both carry scale notations and are printed with oceans and geographic labels in French.

Each sheet measures approximately 90cm x 75cm / 35.4" x 29.5". The seller confirms this size in the listing. Both maps show age-consistent wear appropriate to classroom use over decades, including minor surface marks and handling along edges, consistent with used condition.
