French School River Map Poster

A double-sided French school river map poster produced by Editions Bourrelier, Montmorillon (Vienne), printed by Imp. Michard, Paris. Numbered N13 on one side and N14 on the reverse, this is a classic French School river map poster from the mid-20th century, issued as part of a standard geography series used in French primary and secondary classrooms. One side presents "La Seine et ses affluents" (the Seine and its tributaries), the other "La Loire et ses affluents" (the Loire and its tributaries).

Each map is lithographed in color using a clear pedagogical style: elevation zones rendered in graduated ochre and golden yellow tones, rivers traced in blue, canals marked with red dashed lines, and cities indicated by red dots scaled to population size. Place names, regional labels, and geographic features such as the Massif Central, Morvan, Champagne, and Normandy are clearly printed in period typography. The scale for the Seine map is 1:500,000; the Loire map is at 1:650,000. Both maps are printed on stiff poster board. The surface shows light handling wear consistent with classroom use, including minor creasing at fold lines, but the maps remain fully legible with no significant damage observed.

The poster measures approximately 90cm x 75cm / 35.4" x 29.5". This double-sided format was standard for the Bourrelier school wall chart series, designed to be hung and viewed from both sides or stored flat.

A functional and graphic piece of French educational history, well suited to display in a study, library, or home office. Collectors of vintage cartography, French school ephemera, and mid-century graphic design will find this a solid addition to a collection.
