French Provencal Footed Plate Sicard

Signed by Sicard, a pottery maker known in the south of France for regional earthenware, this French Provencal footed plate is a solid example of traditional Midi ceramic craft. The Sicard name is well established among collectors of southern French pottery, and pieces bearing this mark are consistently sought after for their regional character and hand-finished quality.

The plate is glazed in a warm ochre yellow, evenly applied across the entire surface including the pedestal foot. The rim features a scalloped, petal-like edge with rounded lobes, a classic form associated with Provencal table and display ware. The glaze finish is semi-matte with slight variation in tone across the surface, consistent with traditional kiln firing. The underside clearly shows the Sicard maker's stamp in dark ink, confirming authenticity. A small area of glaze loss is visible on the underside of the foot ring, as shown in the photos — this does not affect the display surface and is noted for full transparency.
