French preserve jar

La Lorraine glassworks produced this French preserve jar during the mid-20th century as part of their domestic kitchenware line. French preserve jars like this served essential roles in traditional food preservation, storing homemade jams, pickled vegetables, and seasonal preserves throughout French households.

The jar displays the distinctive pale green glass typical of vintage French canning vessels, with "LA LORRAINE" embossed prominently across the body. Wire bail closure mechanism with hinged lid ensures proper sealing during storage. The glass exhibits slight cloudiness and patina consistent with authentic vintage glassware, while decorative embossed motifs appear on both the jar body and lid surface.

Standing 22.5cm tall (approximately 8.9 inches), this preserve jar shows normal signs of age and use including minor surface wear and slight discoloration of the liquid contents visible in the photographs. The metal closure mechanism remains functional with original spring tension intact.

French preserve jars from La Lorraine have become increasingly sought after by collectors of vintage kitchenware and make distinctive decorative storage containers for modern pantries or rustic kitchen displays.
