French Fauchon mustard pot
This authentic French Fauchon mustard pot originates from the prestigious Parisian gourmet food establishment that has operated on Place de la Madeleine since 1886. Originally containing "Moutarde d'antan au vinaigre fin" (old-fashioned mustard with fine vinegar), this stoneware vessel represents traditional French culinary heritage and the refined gastronomy of Paris.
The pot features cream-colored glazed stoneware construction with black lettering in classic French script typography. The traditional apothecary-style form displays a distinctive rolled rim and smooth lustrous finish. The glaze shows authentic patina consistent with vintage origins, while the sturdy construction demonstrates quality craftsmanship associated with the Fauchon brand.
Standing 15.5cm (6.1 inches) in height, this mustard crock shows good condition with only minor age-appropriate wear. The intact glazing and solid stoneware construction remain well-preserved. The clear "FAUCHON PARIS" marking and original product text maintain their crisp definition on the vessel's surface.
This functional piece serves as both kitchen storage and decorative accent, representing French epicurean culture. The classic form and prestigious Fauchon provenance make it a valued addition to collections of French culinary artifacts or vintage advertising pieces.
