French School Geography Map Poster

A double-sided French school geography map poster produced by Editions Rossignol of Montmorillon (Vienne), one of France's principal publishers of educational wall charts. One side presents the Midi Mediterraneen region, covering the southern coastline from Perpignan to Monaco, including Marseille, Toulon, Nice and Corsica. The reverse displays the Bassin Aquitain, mapping the Atlantic southwest from the Pyrenees to the Loire, with Bordeaux, Toulouse and Limoges as principal centers. These Rossignol regional series charts were standard classroom equipment in French primary and secondary schools from the 1950s through the 1970s, making this a genuine French school geography map poster from that era.

Both sides are printed in full color using the classic physical-political style: layered ochre, amber and green relief tinting indicates elevation, with blue river systems, red dot city markers scaled by population, and red annotations noting regional industries, crops and resources. Visible notations include Vins, Marais Salants, Constructions navales, Raffineries de petrole, Gaz naturel and Industrie chimiques. The map is numbered N3 and N4 within the Rossignol series. The publisher imprint reads Editions Rossignol - Montmorillon (Vienne) and scale is stated at 1:500,000. The print shows age-consistent toning and minor surface wear consistent with classroom use but remains fully legible and intact with no tears observed.

The poster measures approximately 90cm x 75cm / 35.4" x 29.5". This large format was designed for wall display and classroom visibility at distance.
