A well-used French rustic cutting board of the kind found in farmhouse kitchens throughout rural France, likely dating from the mid-20th century or earlier. This French rustic cutting board belongs to a longstanding tradition of utilitarian woodwork produced for everyday bread and food preparation, and it retains the honest character that comes from decades of actual use.

The board is cut from a single solid piece of light hardwood, most likely sycamore or a comparable dense-grained French variety. Both faces show the natural wood grain running vertically through the body of the board. The surface carries visible knife marks, surface patina, and scattered dark spots consistent with prolonged kitchen use. The upper section features a distinctive double-shoulder silhouette where the body narrows to meet the handle block, giving it an architectural quality typical of traditional French bread boards. The short rectangular handle sits proud of the shoulders and is pierced with a single hanging hole. The edges and corners show light rounding from years of handling. No maker's mark or stamp is visible in any of the photos.
