French Copper Saucepan Tin Lined

A French copper saucepan tin lined from the 19th or early 20th century, made in the traditional manner that defined French professional and domestic kitchens for generations. This French copper saucepan tin lined construction follows the classic approach: a copper body chosen for its heat conductivity, with a tin interior applied to prevent reactive contact between copper and food. The long iron handle, forged flat and rising at a steep angle, terminates in a rolled hook end designed for hanging from a kitchen rack.

The exterior copper surface shows the warm reddish-brown tone of aged copper, with visible surface scratches consistent with working use. The tin lining inside is worn but intact, with the characteristic silvery-grey appearance and circular tool marks from the original tinning process. Two small rivet heads are visible on the interior wall where the iron handle is fixed to the body. The upper rim of the pan has a small pouring lip formed in the copper. At the base, a small dent is present, as noted by the seller — this is minor and does not affect the structural integrity of the pan.

The pan body measures approximately 8cm in diameter and 5cm in height (3.1" x 2"), with a copper wall thickness of approximately 1mm. The total length including the iron handle is considerably longer, estimated at approximately 30cm (11.8") based on the photos. These proportions place it in the category of a small sauce or butter melting pan, well suited for single-portion preparations.
