E. Dehillerin Paris Copper Saucepan

E. Dehillerin, the legendary Parisian kitchen supply house established in 1820 and still operating on Rue Coquilliere, stamped its name on this heavy-gauge E. Dehillerin Paris copper saucepan. Dehillerin supplied professional kitchens across France for generations, and pieces bearing this stamp are among the most sought-after in the antique copper cookware market. The pan dates to the mid-to-late 20th century based on the cast iron handle form and hammer-finished copper body.

The exterior is finished with an all-over hand-hammered texture across the full body and base, giving the surface a faceted, multi-tonal appearance typical of professional-grade French copper. The stamp reads "E. DEHILLERIN PARIS" and is struck clearly into the copper near the handle mount. The handle is forged cast iron, arched in the classic French tradition, attached with two copper rivets and terminating in a hanging loop at the tip. The interior retains its original tin lining, now darkened and patinated with age and use -- the tin shows the characteristic grey-black surface of a well-used vintage piece, with visible scratch marks consistent with cooking use. The tin lining is intact and structural, though the pan should be assessed for re-tinning before active culinary use if the buyer intends to cook with it. The copper wall thickness measures 3mm, consistent with professional-grade stock.

The pan measures 22.5cm in diameter and 12cm in height, equivalent to approximately 8.9" diameter by 4.7" tall. The 3mm copper wall thickness, confirmed in the seller description, places this firmly in the heavy professional category rather than domestic-grade copper.

A piece like this appeals both to collectors of French copper cookware and to working cooks who value the heat conductivity of thick copper. Display use requires no intervention; culinary use would benefit from re-tinning by a specialist.
