French Copper Oval Cocotte

A French copper oval cocotte of professional quality, fitted with cast brass loop handles on both the pot and the matching domed lid. The French copper oval cocotte form -- wide, low, and oval -- is associated with classic French braising and roasting traditions, designed to accommodate whole birds, roasts, or fish with minimal liquid loss. The exterior copper shows a well-polished, warm rose finish consistent with recent cleaning or light use.

The body is formed from copper sheet measuring approximately 1.5mm in thickness, placing it at the heavier end of domestic and professional-grade cookware. The brass handles are cast in the traditional arched bridge style, secured with copper rivets, and show light patination consistent with age and use. The lid sits with a close, flat-rimmed fit typical of French cocotte design, and carries a matching arched brass handle fixed with two rivets. The interior lining is tin, showing the silver-grey surface typical of traditional French copper cookware.
