French Ceramic Fruit Bowl
A vintage French ceramic fruit bowl in white glazed porcelain or fine earthenware, likely produced in France during the mid-to-late 20th century. The form is wide and open, with a gently flared rim and a raised circular foot ring — a classic French ceramic fruit bowl profile suited equally to table use and display. The glaze is white throughout the interior, with a slightly warmer off-white tone on the exterior body, consistent with period French production.
The bowl is wheel-thrown or slip-cast with a smooth, glossy white glaze on the interior and a semi-matte finish on the outer walls. The foot ring, visible in the base photo, is unglazed at the contact edge and shows natural firing marks and light soiling consistent with age and use — no maker's mark or stamp is visible on the base. The form tapers from a wide open mouth down to the narrow foot, giving the piece a low, wide silhouette. No chips, cracks or repairs are visible in the photos, though minor surface wear is consistent with vintage use.
The bowl measures 35cm in diameter and 12.5cm in height, equivalent to approximately 13.8" x 4.9". This is a generous size, making it a functional centerpiece piece for a dining table. As shown in the first photo, it comfortably holds a banana, an orange, a kiwi and a pear — confirming its practical capacity.
A large-format French ceramic fruit bowl of this type works well as a centrepiece on a kitchen table, a sideboard display piece, or as part of a collection of white French tableware. Its clean white glaze and classic rounded form complement both contemporary and traditional interiors.
