Berger Anisette Glass Carafe
A French bistro Berger Anisette glass carafe, produced for the well-known Berger pastis and anisette brand. Berger Anisette glass carafes of this type were widely used in French cafes and bistros throughout the mid-20th century, placed on tables for customers to dilute their anise-based aperitif with water. The carafe retains its original printed label directly on the glass, featuring the distinctive Berger kangaroo mascot in golden yellow and red tones, with the brand name displayed in bold black lettering on a yellow and red background.
The carafe is made of clear glass with a rectangular, flat-sided body and a narrow cylindrical neck with a slightly flared rim. The glass is free of stopper but shows the classic form used for French cafe service. Two kangaroo figures are printed on the glass -- one detailed and colorful on the front face, a second smaller outline figure on the adjacent face -- consistent with the Berger brand identity of the 1950s-1960s era. The label graphics are well preserved with light wear consistent with age. No chips or cracks are observed in the photos.
The carafe measures approximately 18cm tall / 7.1". Width at the base is estimated at approximately 7cm / 2.8" based on visible proportions in the photos.
A collectable piece of French cafe advertising history, suited to display in a bar setting, alongside other mid-century aperitif memorabilia, or as part of a French bistro-themed collection. The Berger kangaroo mascot is a recognized icon among French spirits advertising collectors.
