Christofle Champagne Bucket

Made by Christofle, the French silversmith house founded in Paris in 1830, this Christofle Champagne Bucket was produced for Air France and bears the airline's engraved monogram on the front body. The base is stamped with the Christofle hallmark alongside "FRANCE", confirming authentic manufacture. Items produced by Christofle for Air France were used in first-class service and are now sought after by collectors of both airline memorabilia and French silverware.

The bucket is cylindrical in form, made from silver-plated metal, and features a polished mirror finish on the exterior. Three sets of triple reeded bands encircle the body -- one group near the upper rim and one near the base -- giving the piece a classic Art Deco profile. Two ring handles are mounted on opposing sides, each attached via a rounded ball fitting. The Air France monogram, depicting a stylised winged horse (Pegasus) above a globe, is lightly engraved into the lower body panel. The exterior retains strong reflectivity with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The interior shows tarnishing and some dark spotting, visible in the overhead photo, which is typical for vintage silverplate of this type.

The bucket measures approximately 21.5cm in height / 8.5", with an internal diameter suited to a standard Champagne bottle. External diameter at the rim is approximately 20cm / 7.9".
