Satin Glass Soliflore Vase
A satin glass soliflore vase with a distinctive two-tone composition, combining an amber-ochre frosted body with a contrasting deep cobalt blue collar. The piece dates to the mid-twentieth century and reflects the modernist design sensibility of that period, where bold color pairing and simplified form took precedence over surface ornament.
The body is blown glass, finished with a matte satin surface treatment that diffuses light evenly across the ochre-golden form. The silhouette is ovoid, tapering gently toward a narrow neck that is capped by a flat, disc-shaped rim in dark cobalt blue glass, also matte-finished. The blue collar sits proud of the neck, creating a graphic visual contrast against the warm amber-yellow body. Viewed from above, the opening is small and circular, consistent with a soliflore format intended for a single stem. The base is rounded, with a faint pontil mark visible on the underside. No maker's mark, signature or label is visible in the photos.
Dimensions: approximately 7.5cm wide x 16cm tall / 3.0" x 6.3". The narrow aperture and vertical proportions confirm the soliflore function.
This vase suits a mid-century modern or Scandinavian-influenced interior. The ochre and cobalt pairing is a classic color combination of the 1950s and 1960s decorative arts, and the piece works equally well as a standalone object or grouped with other single-stem vases. A practical and visually distinctive addition to a curated shelf or sideboard.
