Moet Chandon Champagne Ice Bucket
Moet et Chandon issued this Moet Chandon Champagne Ice Bucket as promotional barware for restaurant and hotel service, a common practice by the Champagne house founded in 1743 in Epernay, France. The branding printed on the exterior reads "MOET & CHANDON" in bold lettering beneath the crown and ribbon logo, with "Fonde en 1743" in italic script below. This type of aluminium wine cooler was widely distributed to French brasseries and fine dining establishments from the mid-twentieth century onward and remains one of the most sought-after pieces of branded Champagne memorabilia.
Cast and spun from polished aluminium, the bucket presents a cylindrical form with a slightly flared rim. The upper section carries an embossed frieze running the full circumference, depicting grapevines, vine leaves and hanging bunches of grapes in raised relief. Two ring handles are mounted on opposite sides, each set within a decorative cast grape-cluster and leaf surround. The interior shows the reverse of the embossed relief and bears the circular recessed base typical of this model. The exterior lower half has a brushed finish contrasting with the polished upper zone. Overall condition is good with light surface scratches and age-consistent patina consistent with genuine use, no dents or structural damage observed.
The bucket measures approximately 20.5cm in height / 8.1", with an estimated opening diameter of approximately 19cm / 7.5" based on the photographs. These dimensions accommodate a standard 75cl Champagne bottle comfortably with ice.
A functional and decorative piece, this Moet Chandon Champagne Ice Bucket works equally well as an active wine cooler or as a display object on a bar cart, sideboard or shelf. It is a recognisable collectible among branded Champagne accessories and French cafe and brasserie memorabilia.
