Vintage French Copper Saucepan Mauviel Villedieu Iron Handle Made in 1410265

vintage French copper saucepan

Stamped clearly on its exterior, MAUVIEL VILLEDIEU and MADE IN FRANCE, this vintage French copper saucepan comes from one of the most respected copperware workshops in Normandy. Villedieu-les-Poeles has been synonymous with hand-crafted copper cookware for centuries, and Mauviel remains the name French professional kitchens have trusted for generations. The pan is a classic sautoir form -- a straight-sided saucepan -- with a cast iron handle secured by copper rivets, the hallmark construction of serious French kitchen copper.

The exterior copper glows with a warm, burnished tone, polished and well cared for. Inside, the original tin lining carries the honest, dark patina of a pan that has seen real use at the stove -- the kind of character that collectors of French kitchenalia and farmhouse kitchen decor actively seek. The cast iron handle, substantial and well balanced, curves upward in the traditional French style. A piece like this sits as naturally on a kitchen shelf as it does in a working kitchen, and pairs beautifully with other French copper in a collected display.

Condition and patina consistent with age. The tin interior lining shows heavy wear and darkening from use, with visible scratch marks throughout -- entirely expected in a well-used vintage piece of this type. The copper exterior is in handsome condition with a strong, consistent shine.

Diameter approx. 8.0 in (20.2 cm). Wall thickness approx. 0.8 in (2 mm).
