Mauviel copper saucepan
A classic Mauviel copper saucepan from the workshops of Villedieu-les-Poeles, the Norman town that has been the center of French copper craftsmanship for centuries. The body is shaped from 2mm copper -- the professional gauge favored by French chefs for its even, responsive heat -- and lined on the interior with tin in the traditional manner. The long cast iron handle is secured to the body with copper rivets, a construction detail that has defined high-grade French batterie de cuisine for generations.
Stamped clearly on the exterior: MAUVIEL VILLEDIEU and MADE IN FRANCE. The outside carries the warm, rosy patina that well-kept copper develops over years of kitchen life, and the cast iron handle has aged to a deep, matte black. A handsome and functional piece equally at home displayed on an open kitchen shelf or put back to work on the stove.
Condition and patina consistent with age. The tin lining shows the characteristic dark streaking and light scoring that come from regular use over the years; the copper exterior is in good vintage condition with no dents or deformation.
Diameter is approx. 6.5 in (16.5 cm).
