A French wooden flour sieve of the type used extensively in farmhouse and bakery kitchens throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This French wooden flour sieve served as an essential tool for sifting flour, removing bran, and grading grain before baking, and represents a common form of traditional French rural kitchen equipment.

The body consists of a cylindrical band of thin bentwood, formed and overlapped at the joint, with the seam secured by evenly spaced cut staples or wooden pegs visible along the exterior. A second, slightly wider bentwood band forms the lower rim, joined to the main body by a braided or twisted metal binding that runs around the circumference. This double-band construction is typical of French artisan sieve manufacture. The base is fitted with a fine square-mesh wire screen, now darkened with age and use, intact across its full surface with no visible breaks or tears. The wood has an unfinished, naturally weathered appearance with visible grain and surface marks consistent with age and handling. No maker's mark or label is visible in the photographs.
