French Vintage Wooden Cutting Board

A French vintage wooden cutting board of generous proportions, constructed from solid wood planks joined together and fitted with a small cast metal handle at the top edge. This type of large-format cutting board was a standard fixture in French domestic and professional kitchens throughout the mid-20th century, used daily for bread, charcuterie and general food preparation. The board shows the patina and surface wear consistent with genuine period use.

The board is assembled from two or three wood planks running vertically, with visible grain and natural tonal variation across the surface. Both faces show knife marks, light scoring and general surface wear accumulated over decades of use, confirming its working history. The metal handle, centrally mounted on the top edge, is a simple arched form in aged steel or aluminium, secured with two fixings into the wood edge. The edges of the board are slightly darkened with age, and the overall wood tone is a warm mid-brown. No maker's mark or stamp is visible in the photos.

Dimensions as stated by the seller: 32cm x 45.5cm x 2cm, equivalent to approximately 12.6" x 17.9" x 0.8". This is a notably large format, making it well suited to use as a display or serving board as well as a working kitchen piece.

At this scale, the board functions well as a rustic kitchen display piece, a charcuterie or cheese serving board, or a decorative prop in a farmhouse or bistro-style interior. Its size and visible age give it a strong visual presence without requiring any restoration.
