French Vintage Wooden Cutting Board

A French vintage wooden cutting board of generous proportions, typical of rural French kitchen utility objects from the early to mid 20th century. This French vintage wooden cutting board was made for daily use in a working household kitchen, designed to handle bread, charcuterie and general food preparation with equal practicality.

Cut from a single plank of solid oak, the board shows a pronounced visible wood grain across its surface, with natural knots and color variation ranging from warm honey-brown to deeper amber tones. The second face of the board displays more pronounced patina with darker staining consistent with decades of kitchen use. The top section features a hand-cut arched handle with an oval finger hole, shaped with visible tool marks that confirm artisan rather than industrial manufacture. The edges are rounded through use and age, and the surface carries cut marks, minor surface cracks at the base, and general wear consistent with a long working life. These signs of honest use are part of the board's character and authenticity. No maker's mark or stamp is visible in the photos.

The board measures approximately 30cm x 48cm / 11.8" x 18.9", with a thickness of 2cm / 0.8". The overall height including the handle reaches approximately 58cm / 22.8". This is a large format example, well suited to display use as well as continued kitchen service.
