French Stoneware Mixing Bowls Set
A set of six vintage French stoneware mixing bowls, each wheel-thrown and glazed in a two-tone finish consistent with provincial French pottery traditions. This French stoneware mixing bowls set presents the rustic, utilitarian character typical of mid-20th century French country kitchenware, likely produced in a regional workshop rather than a major manufacturer.
Each bowl features an unglazed natural grey-beige stoneware body on the lower half and foot, with a terracotta-brown slip or glaze applied to the upper exterior and rim. The interior is glazed in a matte grey-green celadon tone, providing a food-safe surface. The contrast between the raw stoneware base and the warm amber-brown upper band is characteristic of French provincial workshop pottery. The bases are unglazed and show a slight foot ring with tool marks visible, consistent with hand-finishing on a wheel. One bowl has a chip as noted by the seller, which is consistent with age and use. No maker's mark or potter's stamp is visible on the base in the available photos.
Each bowl measures approximately 14cm diameter x 6.5cm height (5.5" x 2.6"). The set of six bowls stacks compactly for storage. Sizes appear consistent across the set with minor natural variation expected from hand production.
These bowls are well suited for table use as small serving bowls, prep bowls, or as display pieces in a kitchen with French country or rustic decor. Collected as a group, they represent a practical and coherent set from French provincial ceramic production, increasingly sought after by collectors of everyday vintage kitchen pottery.
