French Stoneware Bowls Set of 3

A set of three graduated French stoneware bowls, each thrown on the wheel from a coarse, grog-flecked clay body typical of French provincial pottery production. These French stoneware bowls set of 3 represent a practical tradition of rural French ceramic manufacture, likely dating from the mid to late 20th century, when such wares were produced in quantity for everyday farmhouse use.

Each bowl shares the same two-tone treatment: a warm amber-brown glaze band covers the upper exterior and interior, stopping cleanly above an unglazed natural beige clay lower body. The interior surface is coated in a pale grey-white glaze, smooth and slightly glossy, with visible speckling from the clay body beneath. The exterior lower half retains the raw, sandy texture of the fired stoneware. The foot ring is unglazed, flat and wide, with small kiln marks visible on the base of at least one bowl. The forms are slightly irregular, consistent with hand-throwing rather than industrial casting. No maker's mark or stamp is visible on any of the bases photographed.

The three bowls are graduated in size: the smallest measures approximately 11.5cm diameter / 4.5 inches, the middle bowl 13.5cm / 5.3 inches, and the largest 15.5cm / 6.1 inches. Heights are estimated from photos at approximately 6cm to 8cm / 2.4 inches to 3.1 inches across the set. Condition is used, with minor surface wear consistent with age and use; no chips or cracks are visible in the photos.

Grouped together, these three graduated bowls work well as a serving set for condiments, dips or small portions, and fit comfortably within a Japandi, farmhouse or rustic kitchen aesthetic. The raw clay base and banded glaze give them a tactile, artisanal quality that suits both practical use and display.
