French Champagne Ice Bucket

A French champagne ice bucket produced for Champagne St. Marceaux, one of the historic Reims-based champagne houses that operated prominently in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This French champagne ice bucket was made for restaurant and hotel service use, as was standard practice for major champagne producers who supplied branded metalware to the hospitality trade across France and beyond.

The body is silver plated metal, tapered and wide-mouthed, with a polished finish that retains good reflectivity despite age-related patina and minor surface wear consistent with decades of service use. A raised decorative band encircles the midsection, featuring a hammered-texture background framed by a chased foliate border. Within this band, the text "CHAMPAGNE St. MARCEAUX" is embossed in bold relief lettering. Multiple incised horizontal lines run above and below the central band, adding structural definition to the form. Two ring handles are mounted on opposite sides via turned knob fittings, allowing the bucket to be lifted and carried with ease. The underside bears a small stamped maker's mark showing an eagle above the word "PARIS", indicating manufacture by a Parisian silversmith or metalware workshop — a detail that adds provenance and dating context, suggesting production most likely in the early 20th century.

The bucket measures approximately 19cm in height / 7.5", with an opening diameter of approximately 19cm / 7.5" and a base diameter of approximately 14cm / 5.5". These are seller-stated and photo-estimated dimensions. Condition is used, with surface scratches, some pitting to the base, and light tarnishing typical of vintage silver plate.

A well-documented piece of French hotel silverware, it suits display in a bar setting, wine cellar, or as a collectible tied to champagne house memorabilia. St. Marceaux champagne was widely celebrated at the turn of the 20th century and featured at major international exhibitions.
