The maker's mark stamped on the base reads "ERCUIS" accompanied by two French guarantee hallmarks, confirming its authenticity and silver plate composition. The current title references "Chien Fo" handles, a term used in French decorative arts for lion-dog or foo dog grotesque mask mounts of Asian inspiration.

The body is cylindrical with a slight taper toward the base, finished in a high-polish silver plate that retains strong reflectivity across its surface. The upper rim is bordered by a continuous beaded gallery, a detail consistent with late 19th and early 20th century French silversmithing traditions. On each side, a cast figural mount in the form of a lion or foo dog mask holds a ring handle; the casting is detailed, with visible facial features and mane work.
