French preserve jar
La Lorraine glassworks produced this French preserve jar during the mid-20th century for home canning and food preservation. The wire bail closure system with glass lid creates an airtight seal ideal for storing preserves, pickles, and other homemade goods.
The clear aqua-tinted glass displays the characteristic La Lorraine embossed lettering across the front panel. Below the text, decorative botanical motifs including thistle leaves are molded into the glass surface. The traditional swing-top mechanism features a metal wire clasp that secures the thick glass stopper firmly in place.
Standing 25.5cm tall (approximately 10 inches), this jar shows typical signs of age and previous use consistent with vintage French kitchenware. The glass retains good clarity with minor surface wear from handling. The metal closure components remain functional with expected patina from decades of use.
This functional vintage jar serves well for modern pantry storage or as part of a French country kitchen collection. La Lorraine pieces are increasingly sought after by collectors of European glassware and traditional canning equipment.
