French Medicis Urn
Dating from the Napoleon era style period, this French Medicis urn exemplifies the neoclassical design aesthetic that gained prominence during the early 19th century. The Medicis form, inspired by ancient Roman urns, became a popular decorative element in French porcelain production.
Crafted in white porcelain with gold trim detailing, the urn features the characteristic pierced bowl with architectural columns creating an open lattice pattern. The piece stands on a square pedestal base with gold accent lines and small dot motifs at each corner. The interior shows evidence of previous use with some staining visible in the bottom bowl area.
The urn measures 23cm x 21cm in diameter, equivalent to approximately 9.1 inches by 8.3 inches. The pedestal form adds considerable height to the overall presentation, creating an imposing decorative presence typical of the Medicis style.
This French Medicis urn would serve well as a centerpiece for fresh or dried flowers, or as a standalone decorative accent in period room settings. The Napoleon era styling appeals to collectors of French Empire period ceramics.
