French Horse Trophy

This authentic French horse trophy plaque dates from 1954 and originates from the prestigious agricultural competitions held at Fontainebleau. Awarded by the Societe Hippique Francaise, this prize commemorates the Coupe Challenge du Club des Habits Rouges competition at Zeprix, representing France's established equestrian tradition.

The oval trophy features raised brass lettering against a distinctive red enamel background. Gold-toned metal text creates contrast with the burgundy red surface, which displays natural patina developed over seven decades. Decorative scrollwork adorns the upper portion, typical of mid-20th century French metalwork craftsmanship.

Measuring 13.5cm x 9.5cm (5.3" x 3.7"), this horse trophy shows age-appropriate wear consistent with its vintage status. The original hanging loop remains intact and functional. Surface wear and patina enhance the authentic character while preserving the raised lettering and overall structural integrity.

This agricultural prize would appeal to collectors of French sporting memorabilia, equestrian enthusiasts, or those interested in mid-century competition awards from notable French institutions.
