French Horse Show Medals
These authentic French horse show medals represent the tradition of agricultural competitions from the 1950s era. Awarded by the Societe Hippique Francaise, these bronze medallions were presented to winning participants at regional horse shows and livestock competitions throughout France during the mid-20th century.
Each medal displays the characteristic red enamel finish with raised lettering and decorative borders typical of French award design from this period. The central red enamel fields bear official inscriptions detailing various competitions including Prix Daniel Guestier from Bordeaux 1952, Prix du Haras de Gelos from Pau 1954, and other regional events. The bronze construction shows original patina development consistent with age.
The medals measure approximately 6cm in length and display good condition with minor wear to the enamel surfaces and natural patination to the bronze. Each piece retains its original hanging loop at the top. The red enamel work shows the quality of French artisanal production from this era, with clear legible text and well-preserved color despite decades of age.
These French horse show medals would appeal to collectors of equestrian memorabilia, French agricultural history, or vintage sporting awards. The regional competition details provide authentic documentation of France's countryside traditions from the post-war period.
