French honey pot

Dating from circa 1900, this French honey pot exemplifies traditional rural pottery used throughout France for storing and preserving honey in farmhouse kitchens. The vessel displays the characteristic bulbous form and functional design of authentic French preservation pottery from the early 20th century.

The handmade terracotta construction features a rich brown glaze with natural tonal variations creating depth and visual interest across the surface. The pot exhibits the classic rounded belly shape that tapers toward the rim, with a subtle foot base typical of French honey pot design. Evidence of artisanal production methods is visible in the slight irregularities and glazing patterns.

Standing 11cm high (4.25 inches), this honey pot remains in good condition with minor wear appropriate to its age and authentic kitchen use over more than a century. The glazed finish shows natural patina that confirms its genuine vintage status, while the overall form remains intact and functional.

This piece serves collectors of French country pottery well and functions as an authentic decorative accent for rustic kitchen displays or farmhouse-style interiors.
