French Glass Cloche Dome

A French glass cloche dome from the early to mid 20th century, the type once commonly used in French households and patisseries to cover cheese, cake or cold cuts on the table. This French glass cloche dome is pressed glass, formed in an octagonal faceted shape that was widely produced in France during the interwar period and post-war decades.

The cloche is clear pressed glass with a distinctly angular, faceted profile — twelve flat panels run from the base up to a short neck, topped by a solid octagonal knob handle. The glass has a faint greenish-amber tint typical of period French pressed glass. Visible throughout the surface are light surface scratches consistent with age and regular domestic use. The seller notes small chips along the base rim, which are clearly visible in the close-up photos — these chips are located at the lower edge and are characteristic of antique glass that has seen genuine use over many decades. No cracks are visible in the main body.

Dimensions as stated: 16.5cm diameter x 12cm height / 6.5" diameter x 4.7" height. The octagonal base opening measures approximately 16.5cm across its widest point, making it suitable for covering a standard small cheese board or display object.
