French Dame Jeanne
This authentic French Dame Jeanne represents traditional French rural craftsmanship from the 1930s era. These iconic glass vessels, known as demijohns or carboys, served essential roles in French farmhouses and wine cellars for storing and aging wines, oils, and spirits across generations.
The bottle displays the classic bulbous form wrapped in hand-woven wicker basketry. The natural rattan weaving shows a traditional herringbone pattern, secured with rope handles that combine functionality with rustic design. The green glass is visible through the protective wicker casing, creating contrast between the smooth glass surface and textured basketry. A cork stopper with traditional closure mechanism completes the authentic construction.
This French Dame Jeanne measures 39cm in height and 27cm in diameter (15.25" x 10.5"). The wicker basket shows authentic aging consistent with its vintage origins, while maintaining structural integrity. The rope handle remains securely attached, and the herringbone weave pattern is intact throughout. The green glass bottle fits properly within its wicker housing.
This piece works well as rustic decor in country-style interiors or as part of a vintage French collection. Dame Jeanne bottles appeal to collectors of traditional French rural artifacts and wine-related antiques.
