Made by Mauviel in Villedieu-les-Poeles, Normandy, this Mauviel Copper Bain Marie is a classic example of professional French copper cookware. Villedieu has been the centre of French copper production for centuries, and Mauviel remains one of its most respected manufacturers. The stamped oval mark reading "Mauviel Villedieu" alongside "Made in France" is clearly visible on the outer wall of the lower pot, confirming authenticity and provenance.

The set comprises three pieces: a lower copper saucepan with a tin-lined interior, an upper insert in white porcelain with a copper collar, and a copper lid with a pewter-style knob. The exterior copper surfaces show the warm reddish tone typical of the alloy, with light use marks and surface scratching consistent with age. The tin lining of the lower pot remains largely intact with minor dulling. The white porcelain insert is in good condition with no visible chips or cracks observed. The handles on both the lower pot and upper insert are cast iron, riveted in place, with a characteristic flat rectangular form and hanging hole at the tip. A small brass bolt secures the porcelain insert to the copper collar. This combination of copper, tin, cast iron, and porcelain is typical of high-quality mid-20th century French professional cookware.

The seller notes a height of 19cm for the assembled unit. Overall assembled height is approximately 19cm / 7.5". The lower pot diameter is estimated at approximately 14cm / 5.5" based on proportions visible in the photos. The porcelain insert fits neatly into the copper collar above the lower pot.
