French champagne ice bucket

A classic French champagne ice bucket from the St Peray Monopole winery, this is a restaurant-grade wine service piece typical of mid-20th century French bistro and hotel use. French champagne ice buckets of this type were produced in quantity for the hospitality trade, embossed with the name of the wine producer and supplied directly to cafes and restaurants. St Peray is an appellation in the northern Rhone Valley, known for its sparkling and still white wines made from Marsanne grapes.

The bucket is spun aluminum, with a slightly tapered cylindrical form widening toward the open rim. The body features two horizontal raised ribs dividing the surface into upper and lower bands, and a rolled lip at the top edge. The embossed lettering reads "St Peray Monopole" in bold block capitals pressed directly into the metal. Two cast metal side handles are fitted with ring pulls on knurled pivot pins, a practical design allowing the bucket to be lifted or hung. The metal shows age-appropriate patina, light surface scratching consistent with service use, and some darkening around the handle fittings. No cracks or structural damage are visible. The interior shows the reverse of the embossed text and a raised circular boss at the base center, which is standard for spun aluminum construction of this period.

The bucket measures approximately 20.5cm tall / 8.1" in height, as noted by the seller. Interior diameter at the rim is estimated at approximately 19cm / 7.5" based on the photos, sufficient to hold a standard wine bottle with ice. Base diameter is narrower, consistent with the tapered form.
