French Brass Photo Frame Beveled Glass

A French brass photo frame with beveled glass, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century and typical of the ornate tabletop accessories produced in France during the Belle Epoque period. The French brass photo frame with beveled glass construction is a well-known format for this era, combining decorative metalwork with high-quality glass cutting for the domestic market.

The frame is composed entirely of a large beveled glass panel held within a minimal brass border. At the top, a cast brass ribbon-and-bow ornament forms the decorative crest, with wavy ribbon ends extending to either side of a central tied-bow motif. The casting shows textured surface detail consistent with hand-worked brass. At the base, two small solid brass ball feet support the frame. The back features a hinged brass strut allowing the frame to stand upright at a slight angle. A hanging loop is also fitted at the top rear, offering the option of wall display. The beveled edge of the glass is cleanly cut and ground, visible clearly on all four sides. Some light age-related marks and minor patina are present on the brass, consistent with age and use.
