brass glass curio display cabinet
A miniature brass glass curio display cabinet of the kind the French call a vitrine -- a small freestanding showcase designed to keep tiny collectibles, jewelry, or curiosities both visible and protected behind glass. Constructed from slender brass channel framing and clear glass panels, the cabinet stands on four polished brass ball feet and features a hinged front door with a small tab latch. The hexagonal silhouette, with its angled corner panels, gives the piece a classic Art Deco-inflected character that reads equally well on a dressing table, a bathroom shelf, or a collector's display surface. Three interior glass shelves divide the cabinet into four compartments, making it practical for rings, earrings, small figurines, or a curated row of miniature objects.
The brass framework carries a warm, slightly darkened patina that comes only with genuine age and use -- none of the flat, uniform tone of a reproduction. Each glass panel is clear and intact, allowing a full view of whatever is placed inside. The ball feet add a quietly elegant finishing touch. This type of tabletop vitrine was a staple of French bourgeois interiors throughout the mid-twentieth century, used to display cameos, medals, and small bibelots with a sense of domestic pride.
Condition and patina consistent with age. Light oxidation on the brass frame in places, adding to its honest vintage character; all glass panels present and clear with minor surface dust.
Approx. 4.3 in wide x 2.4 in deep x 6.9 in tall (11 cm wide x 6 cm deep x 17.5 cm tall).
