French Agricultural Plaques

These authentic French agricultural plaques represent the rural competition tradition of mid-20th century France. Dating from the 1950s and 1960s, these vintage trophy awards were presented to farmers and breeders whose livestock achieved distinction in regional agricultural contests, documenting the heritage of French countryside competitions.

Both plaques display the characteristic red painted finish with weathered patina typical of outdoor display pieces from this era. The larger shield-shaped plaque from 1960 bears text reading "Concours Foire Contest" with "Prix d'Ensemble" and "1er Prix" designations. The smaller circular piece from 1952 commemorates Fontainebleau regional competition with "Coupe des Regions" inscription. Metal construction shows authentic aging consistent with decades of use.

The plaques measure 22.5cm x 16cm and 10.5cm x 14cm (8.9" x 6.3" and 4.1" x 5.5" respectively). Both pieces exhibit period-appropriate wear including paint loss and surface patination that confirms their authentic vintage status. French typography and formal presentation style reflect mid-century agricultural society standards.

These French agricultural plaques make distinctive additions to collections focused on rural heritage, farming history, or vintage French country decor. Their documentary value captures an era when local competitions formed the social fabric of agricultural communities.
