French agricultural trophy

This authentic French agricultural trophy represents the distinguished tradition of equestrian and agricultural competitions in mid-20th century France. Awarded in 1954 by the Societe Hippique Francaise in Fontainebleau, this commemorative plaque was presented as the Prix Comte de Mailde, recognizing achievement with a 5th place honor in animal breeding or agricultural excellence.

The oval metal plaque features red enamel work with raised gilt lettering displaying the classic styling of official French competition awards from this era. The decorative border frames the central text, while an ornamental mounting ring at the top demonstrates the quality craftsmanship typical of institutional French trophies. The enameled iron or steel construction shows the original vibrant red coloring with gold-toned lettering.

Measuring 13.5cm x 9.5cm (5.3" x 3.7"), this vintage trophy displays natural patina and wear consistent with its 70-year history. The surface shows some aging and minor wear to the enamel finish, particularly around the edges, though the text remains clearly legible throughout. The mounting ring appears intact and functional.

This piece would appeal to collectors of French equestrian memorabilia, vintage agricultural awards, or those interested in mid-century French institutional design and craftsmanship.
