French Agricultural Prize
This authentic vintage French agricultural prize plaque represents a historic piece of rural French tradition from 1936. The bronze trophy was awarded at a regional livestock competition in Saint-Thomas de Conac, Charente Inferieure, recognizing excellence in mare and foal breeding.
The oval bronze plaque displays raised lettering reading "CONCOURS DE JUMENTS POULINIERES" (Mare and Foal Competition), "4-ME PRIME" (4th Prize), and "ST-THOMAS DE CONAC CHARENTE INFRE" with the year 1936. The weathered bronze surface exhibits natural patina with distinctive verdigris green coloring throughout. The embossed text remains clearly defined despite decades of aging.
Measuring 20.5cm x 13cm (8.1" x 5.1"), this substantial agricultural award displays good vintage condition with natural oxidation consistent with its 88-year age. The original mounting hole at the top remains intact. Surface wear and patina contribute to its authentic character as a genuine period piece.
This French agricultural prize makes an excellent addition to collections focusing on rural French history, vintage trophies, or agricultural memorabilia. Such regional competition plaques are increasingly scarce examples of France's farming heritage.
