French Agricultural Prize Plaque
This authentic French agricultural prize plaque originates from the farming competitions of Beaune, representing France's historic rural traditions. The bronze or brass trophy was awarded by the Agricultural Society of the 1st District of Beaune as a prix d'honneur to recognize excellence in livestock breeding and agricultural achievements.
The oval-shaped plaque displays raised lettering reading "STE D'AGRICULTURE DU 1ER ARRDT DE BEAUNE" around the perimeter, with "PRIX D'HONNEUR" prominently featured in the center. The metal construction shows authentic aged patina with traces of original red paint still visible across the surface. Decorative floral elements crown the top of the plaque, while natural oxidation and weathering indicate genuine age and outdoor display.
Measuring 21cm x 16cm (8.25" x 6.25"), this substantial French agricultural prize plaque exhibits good condition with period-appropriate surface wear. The weathered patina and surviving paint traces create an authentic appearance that speaks to its institutional origins. A hole at the top indicates it was designed for mounting or display purposes.
This piece would complement collections of French agricultural memorabilia, vintage trophies, or rural antiques, serving as a focal point in country-style interiors or historical displays.
