Produced by Ercuis, one of France's most respected silverplate manufacturers, this Ercuis silver plate oval serving platter dates to the mid-twentieth century and reflects the restrained, geometric aesthetic associated with French hotel and restaurant tableware of the era. Ercuis has been producing high-quality silverplate since 1867, and pieces bearing their mark were standard issue in grand hotels and railway dining cars across France.

The platter is formed in a shallow oval bowl shape with a gently curved interior rising to a broad flat rim. The rim is decorated with a series of concentric reeded lines — five grooves running parallel around the full perimeter — a design detail typical of the Art Deco period and of Ercuis professional-grade flatware lines.
