Antique Spanish Stoneware Pot

A utilitarian antique Spanish stoneware pot dating to the 19th century, hand-thrown in unglazed terracotta with a distinctly aged surface that speaks to decades of practical use. The antique Spanish stoneware pot form is classic and functional: a rounded, wide-bellied body narrowing toward a small footed base, with a short collar neck and a slightly everted rim. Pots of this type were used across rural Spanish and broader European households for storing dry goods, water, oil, or preserved foods.

The exterior surface carries a heavy, naturally accumulated patina of grey, beige, and pale green tones, the result of age, mineral deposits, and outdoor or cellar exposure. Patches of lichen growth are visible on one side, giving the surface its characteristic mottled coloring. The clay body appears dense and coarse-grained, consistent with traditional Iberian rural stoneware production. The interior shows traces of a dark, partially vitrified surface, suggesting the pot may have been sealed or treated at some point during its working life. No maker's mark, stamp, or signature is visible in the photos. No significant cracks or repairs are apparent, though the surface shows the expected wear and minor irregularities of a hand-thrown antique piece.
