Italian Confit Pot

This authentic 19th century Italian confit pot represents traditional food preservation vessels used throughout Italian households for storing sardines and other preserved foods. These utilitarian ceramic containers were essential kitchen implements in historical Italian domestic life.

The hand-thrown ceramic construction displays skilled traditional pottery techniques with visible throwing rings evident on the interior surface. The glazing features a distinctive cream-colored exterior finish while the interior showcases blue-gray tones accented by golden yellow rim detailing. The glazed surfaces show authentic period characteristics with natural variations in application and firing.

Standing 13.5cm in height (5.25 inches), this Italian confit pot exhibits appropriate age-related patina and surface wear consistent with 19th century manufacture and historical use. A drainage hole present in the base indicates subsequent repurposing as a planter. The overall condition remains good with expected signs of age and authentic usage patterns.

This traditional vessel makes an appropriate addition to collections of European ceramics or Mediterranean kitchenware while serving contemporary decorative purposes in rustic or farmhouse interior settings.
