French Flour Sack
This authentic French flour sack originates from the historic Grands Moulins Marius Hygonet mill in Montellimar, representing France's traditional milling heritage. These industrial grain bags were fundamental to the French agricultural system, transporting flour and cereals throughout the countryside from mill to marketplace.
Constructed from sturdy natural linen in warm beige tones, the sack displays clear commercial typography arranged in a circular pattern around a heraldic shield crest. The robust fabric shows the characteristic weave of commercial-grade linen designed for durability. Both sides feature identical printed markings with "Grands Moulins" at the top, "Marius Hygonet" prominently displayed in the center, and "Montellimar" at the bottom. The reverse side shows a simple monogram with intertwined letters "MH".
The sack measures 110cm x 65cm (43.25" x 25.5"), providing substantial size typical of commercial milling operations. The linen fabric exhibits natural aging consistent with decades of working use, displaying the honest wear patterns expected from authentic industrial textiles. The printed markings remain clearly legible, demonstrating the quality of the original printing process used by French mills of this era.
This French flour sack serves as an authentic piece of agricultural history, suitable for rustic decor, vintage textile collections, or repurposing as storage. The clear mill branding and substantial size make it a genuine example of French industrial heritage from Montellimar's milling tradition.
